Ghorepani is one of the villages which lies in Myagdi District in Dhaulagiri Zone. It lies 17 km far from Beni, the district capital at an elevation of approximately 2874m (9429ft). The village lies within the Annapurna region. We can move to a maximum height of Poonhill which is 3210m to view the sunrise and sunset. In Ancient traders, this place was used to be a rest stop found water (Pani in Nepali) for their horses thus leading to the nomenclature Ghorepani.

It is a small hiking circuit in the lower part of Annapurna Conservation Area. The prime destination of this trail is awesome viewpoint at Poon Hill from where one can enjoy fascinating snow-capped peaks. The trekkers will have a deep impression of this region as the trail leads to rhododendron forest, different villages, streams, heterogeneous landscapes and lush vegetation. The warm welcome and behavior of local people equally fascinate the traveler.

Poonhill short hiking begins from Nayapul which is in driving distance from Pokhara. We can reach Pokhara in 30 minutes by flight or it will take around 6 hours to the drive. Leaving Nayapul, we will follow the dirt trail through Tikhedunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk. This hike is also known as Sunrise Hike.
