Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01:Kathmandu to Lukla flight by small aircraft and trek to Phakding Today you will be starting your journey to Everest base camp. From Kathmandu, you will take a domestic flight to Lukla enjoying the aerial view of en-route settlements, lakes, temples, forests, and so on. After reaching Lukla, you will meet the local guide and porter and will start the trek towards Phakding. During your trek, you will hike through many up and down hills, mussy steeps, suspension bridges, and so on. After reaching Phakding, you will explore the villages along with the view of towering mountains like Gongla and Kusum Kanguru. Stay the night at a hotel or tea house.

    Kathmandu to Lukla flight duration: 50 minutes

  • Day 02:Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar On this day, you will be starting your trek after completing all the morning routines. You will be passing through the lush green forest covered with rhododendron, blue pine forest, uphill paths, settlements, and so on. On the way to Namche, you will pass the village called Monjo which is the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park. You will also get an opportunity to explore the Sherpa Culture Museum and Sagarmatha National Park Museum. After a short hike with a stunning view of mountains, you will reach Namche Bazaar. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to reach Namche and upon reaching there, you will stay overnight at a hotel or lodge.

  • Day 03:Trek from Namche Bazaar to Khumjung After completing all the morning routines and having breakfast, you will be starting a short hike towards Khumjung. You will be ascending uphills through local settlements enjoying the beautiful views of mountains, brown hills, lush green forests, and so on. After reaching Khumjung, you will have lunch and roam around the place. While exploring Khumjung, you can visit monasteries, schools, hospitals, and many more. You can also visit Hotel Everest View in Syangboche, have food with a beautiful mountain view, and explore around. Afterward, you will be staying at the teahouse and rest for the day.

  • Day 04:Trek to Tengboche Today, you will move towards Tengboche. The path of Tengboche falls on the riverbank of Phungi Thanga town from where you will ascend up to Tengboche village. On the trail, you will walk along the rhododendron forest, high hills, with a beautiful view of Ama Dablam mountain. After your arrival at Tengboche, you will explore the Tengboche Monastery, Mount Everest National Park, and its head office, visit some nice hotels, and even taste delicious food. Overnight stay at a hotel or lodge in Tengboche.

  • Day 05:Trek to Dingboche / Village exploration day Today you hike from Tengboche to Dingboche. On the trail, you'll walk 30 minutes down the river, through the lush green forest, along the waterway, and take a steady step above towards Pangboche (3,860 m), the highest settlement area of ​​the valley. Here you can see some Chortens and mani walls. Similarly, one can also get the view of Ama Dablam.

    In the evening, you continue to climb Pheriche from where you can take a really moderate walk to Imja valley. Moving on to the last and vertical road of the day, you will reach the final destination - Dingboche. You can also take a short walk to Nagarjuna Danda in your spare time. Likewise, you can visit Dingboche Monastery. Stay overnight at a hotel in Dingboche.

  • Day 06:Trek to Lobuche After breakfast, you will start moving for Dugla through the Khumbu river valley. Upon the arrival of Dusa, the valley became limited. You will then proceed through Phuong Karpo. In the middle of the trek, you can admire the magnificent perspective on Chola Lake and Mount Pumori which disappears as the trail descends and you head towards the stream. At the crossroads, a small forest road leads to Dugla. From here, you will head up to the highest terminal of the Khumbu Glacier and after leaving the glacier behind, the trail gently leads to Lobuche. Stay overnight at the local tea house in Lobuche.

  • Day 07:Heli flight from Lobuche to Kala Patthar to Lukla / Lukla village exploration Today, you will have a helicopter ride from Lobuche to Kala Patthar and fly towards Lukla from Kala Patthar. The helicopter will stop at Kala Patthar for around 10 minutes. In the meantime, you can explore the place and enjoy the mountainous surrounding. After that, the Heli will take you back to Lukla, where you can have lunch and explore Lukla village during your spare time. At night, you will be staying at a hotel or lodge.

How hard is it to walk to Everest Base Camp?

The trekking to Everest base camp is moderate. Normally, it takes 12 days to complete the trek to Everest base camp with core trekking but you can also complete it in 8 days with a helicopter return flight if you have a limited time period. Apart from that, you must be physically fit, and also no trekking expertise is required.

Can you take a helicopter to Everest Base Camp?

Yes, you can take a helicopter to Everest base camp but normally it lands at Kala Patthar from where you can enjoy the majestic view of Mount Everest and neighboring mountains.

Why can't you take a helicopter to the top of Everest?

The air is too thin for most helicopters to generate enough lift to stay in the air. If the helicopter is equipped to reach that height, landing is still an incredibly delicate thing.

Is it possible to do the Everest base camp trek with no experience?

Yes, even an inexperienced person can perform this trek but one must be physically fit and strong enough to carry the baggage while hiking around.
