Manaslu

The eighth-highest peak in the world, Manaslu, is located at an altitude of 8,163 meters (26,781 feet). It is located in Nepal's west central region, in the Mansiri Himal, a part of the Nepalese Himalayas. Manasa, which means "intellect" or "soul" in Sanskrit, is the root of the name Manaslu, which translates as "mountain of the spirit." On May 9, 1956, Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, two Japanese expedition members, made the first ascent of Manaslu. There are numerous trekking options in the Manaslu region. The 177-kilometer famous Manaslu trekking path skirts the Manaslu massif over the pass and descends to Annapurna.
