The poon hill classic trek with Dhampus is an exciting hiking package that will let you explore the major attractions with sunrise and sunset views of Annapurna Himalayan ranges. It takes 6 days from Pokhara and 7 days from Kathmandu. It is suitable for those who are bounded by their time and cost limits. Poonhill via Ghandruk gives an opportunity to reach an altitude of 3210m which is the maximum height that we will reach by participating in an easy poon hill hike. This route continues through a forest of blooming rhododendrons and bamboos and also gives us chance to explore villages of Gurung and Magar ethnics.

The classic poon hill 6 days trek is one of the villages which lies in Myagdi District in the Dhaulagiri Zone. It lies 17 km far from Beni, the district capital at an elevation of approximately 2874m (9429ft). The village lies within the Annapurna region. We can move to a maximum height of Poonhill which is 3210m to view the sunrise and sunset. In Ancient traders, this place used to be a rest stop to found water (Pani in Nepali) for their horses thus leading to the nomenclature Ghorepani.

It is a small hiking circuit in the lower part of Annapurna Conservation Area. The prime destination of this trail is the awesome viewpoint at Poon Hill from where one can enjoy fascinating snow-capped peaks. The trekkers will have a deep impression of this region as the trail leads to rhododendron forest, different villages, streams, heterogeneous landscapes, and lush vegetation. The warm welcome and behavior of local people equally fascinate the traveler.

The trek begins from Nayapul which is within driving distance of Pokhara. We can reach Pokhara in 30 minutes by flight or it will take around 6 hours to drive. Leaving Nayapul, we will follow the dirt trail through Tikhedunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Ghandruk, Landruk, and Dhampus. This hike is also known as Sunrise Hike.

This Hike challenges your stamina at Ulleri where there are more than 3000 stone steps, one of the world’s largest stone steps. On the way to Ulleri and Ghorepani, you witness the serene beauty of Mt. Annapurna (8091m), and Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) provide you with a different experience that will give you the feeling of heaven. The ultimate destination, Poon Hill, gives eternal joy to hikers as you are in unison with nature. The experience of hiking does not stop here. From Poon Hill, we move to Ghandruk Village enjoying the Gurung Museum in beautiful Gurung village.
