Siddha Gufa Caving is the largest and most popular caving destination in Nepal. It provides the astounding experience inside the darkness of the cave. Siddha Gufa is the largest cave in Nepal and second largest in Asia with 437m depth and 50m height. Being the largest cave in the whole country, it provides the best experiences of encounter with dark environment, bats chattering, mice moving and many more. Its interior is full of stalactites and stalagmites. It is also known as the place from where Siddha baba got his enlightenment. Trekking to this cave from Bandipur is interesting and most popular which takes about one and a half hour hike each way if it’s muddy. Alternatively, you can also march uphill to the cave from Bimalnagar (which lies on Prithvi Highway). It will take just 45 minutes to reach the cave. Dirt path and stone path are the only way to reach there which are slippery so it’s very necessary to take every step with care. The path is being managed and maintained to make it easy for travelers to explore around. It is also essential and somehow compulsory to hire a local guide as well to know more about the cave.

Outline Day to Day Itinerary:

  • Day 01:Kathmandu to Bandipur
  • Day 02:Excursion around cave and return back to Kathmandu

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01:Kathmandu to Bandipur Today is the first day of our trip. This day we move from Kathmandu to Bandipur which will take about 6 to 7 hours to reach. We drive exploring the beautiful view of nature as well as artistic beauties including fast flowing Trishuli River, green vegetation, human settlements, and many more. The maximum path is peached but we also have to cross through narrow off-roads which can be a little disturbing. It also gives us the splendid view of cable-cars moving from each side. We will have a homestay after reaching Bandipur. Overnight stay in Bandipur.
  • Day 02:Excursion around cave and return back to Kathmandu Today is the second but final day of our day. After having early breakfast, we will move towards the cave. The path remains muddy most of the time so we need to take proper care of our shoes and movement. We will walk along the muddy path, rock stairs, ropeways, and so on. Inside the cave, we can meet saints (Baba Ji) at the certain time as he sometimes moves out for a while. We can also observe a sketch of ancient saints carved on the stone. Water falling from stones is also a major attraction of the cave. After completing the tour of the cave, we move to our staying place and have lunch there. After having lunch, we will rest for sometimes and pack the bags and move towards the bus to return back to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to your respective hotel after reaching Kathmandu. Our beautiful journey with you ends here with a proper goodbye.

    Caving in Nepal with Family

: I went on a family vacation with my wife and 2 young kids in Nepal. We decided to explore the adventure of Nepal so choose caving adventure for our destination place. For this adventure activity, Nepal Trek Adventure Team helped us in every possible way. They provided us with every information and great service of food, accommodation, gears, and most importantly, a guide, who could lead us through the way. We loved their service a lot and that friendly environment was just heartwarming. The owner (Binod) and the guide (Krishna) are so active that you yourself will get energized watching their energy and dedication towards their work. If next time we visit Nepal then we will surely get connected with NTA Family only. There is no way, we gonna look for other trekking and tour agencies. Thank you, all the team members from the bottom of heart! Kudos!

  • Last-minute Caving Experience in Nepal

    Last-minute Caving Experience in Nepal

I returned back from my Annapurna Base Camp Trek last month. While I was in Pokhara, I had a second thought about exploring adventure activity. I consulted with my guide, and he told me about different adventure activities, and the safest was caving. I wanted to do a safe but interesting experience though. We moved from Pokhara and stopped in Bandipur. It is what they called. Here we were going to do caving activity. We headed on and on for about an hour and reached there. We showed the entrance slip to the doorman and moved on. The cave was dark enough. It was hard enough to see things there, but after some time, we could see. We used torchlight too. The experience we got was amazing. Darkness was so beautiful there. Some steps were slippery but were enjoyable and full of fun. Thank you, Rajan, for organizing this caving practice so immediately and so nicely! Just enjoyed the trip a lot! Every moment spent there, exploring the cave and the elegance was more than my imagination. Highly recommended adventure and of course the Nepal trek Team!

He furnished us with the best of everything and sent us on this remarkable trip with Mr. Aasish. He was our guide for this trip. He was actually cordial and an exceptionally decent individual. Best Season For Siddha Gufa Caving

The best seasons to visit Bandipur for Siddha Gufa Caving are autumn and spring. In these seasons, the months included are March, April, May, September, October, and November. In this time, the roadway remains less slippery and less dangerous; and also the way of getting into the cave remains easier and profound. In the winter season, the climate remains much colder. Here, you will need to take extra care of it. In the monsoon season, there will be heavier rainfall that makes the path and the surrounding more dangerous, slippery and landslide-affected. Hence, you can go to caving in these two seasons too (winter and monsoon), but they are not that recommended ones like autumn and spring. You will need to become extra careful and active.
